Have you ever started a system design course and wondered which videos actually matter for your interview?
This course answers that with one path of videos, which takes less than six hours. Most of your interview preparation should come from this path.
The path starts with Building an Ecommerce App. In eleven episodes, we take a small online shop and scale it, adding servers, caches, rate limits and microservices as the traffic grows. The first four videos are free.
After that, we go deeper into networks, databases, consistency, messaging and the tradeoffs you make in every design. Then we use these ideas to design WhatsApp, Instagram, Uber's ride matching and a distributed rate limiter. The path ends with interview tips, so that you know how the interview runs.
Most chapters have quizzes, PDF summaries and book readings beside the videos, and some designs end with an exercise where you complete the design yourself. Each lesson also shows what it covers, and has your notes and a discussion with other learners.
Everything else is under Additional Resources, at the bottom of the course. This has more lessons on each subject, API design, caches, Tinder, Hotstar, Gmail and recordings of past classes. These are not counted in your progress, so you can pick them up when you want to learn more.
I hope you enjoy the course. Cheers.
